The advantages (?) and disadvantages of housing blocks
I've just realized that this picture could just as well be a nice one in the Picture description section, too. :)))
Oh, I could go on and on about it for hours! Lat Sunday for example, after a calm period of about two weeks, when everyone really tried to do the beating of the steak they had bought for Sunday lunch on either Saturday evening or just before actually coating it in breadcrumbs at about eleven o'clock, so after such a heaven of nice Sunday mornings we really didn't expect that anyone in the block would risk being frowned upon for months by everyone else just because they remembered they had some urgent hammering to do at 6.40 in the morning. Well, it didn't take long at all, they finished by 7.15 you know, and relieved that the work had been done, went silent again. So no problem, you could just as well go back to sleep ... if you had wanted to at all, instead of grumping around in the flat trying to enjoy your coffee at least - once you had to get up so early, why deny yourself this little and last chance of Sunday morning happiness? - trying to figure out which neighbour was either a Catholic, who thought that before daybreak it wasn't Sunday at all, or a Jew who simply could not finish doing it on Friday and had been falling over the mess for two days and now had had enough of it falling over again when going to the toilet in the dark, or a Protestant, who was as deaf as a post, or simply just an atheist jerk. Then you realize it was probably aimed at only you - and now you're quite sure which neighbour it was - for instead of finding the button to turn on the light in the staircase when rushing down the steps to catch your train, unintentionally ringing his bell at 4.30 one morning. And then, your feeling of guilt makes you only feel sorry for the others, the innocent ones ... but after a while you realize they are all being punished for their barking dogs, loud music, renovations and redecorations, snoring and all that, a never-ending list of crimes against peaceful coexistence in human society. Maybe you are simply wrong about the idea what Sunday mornings should be like in a block ...
